Coritani Arts and Heritage Project

November 2022 – Ongoing

PROJECT SUPPORT/ PRODUCER

With funding through the Grimsby Creates Creative Ambition Pilot Fund grant in Winter/Spring 2022/23, this project brings together Coritani Creative Ltd (Emma Lawn), Our Big Picture (Paula Denton), Lisa Oliver (Humber Taiko/FolkLincs) and Chelsey Everatt (EverArts), alongside additional creatives and partners including NEL Music Hub, Libellule Theatre and Lowercase Theatre, to develop the next stages of development for this project.

The creatives across Music, Theatre/Storytelling, and Visual Arts, will use the heritage of the area as a stimulus, to create a celebration of our identity and history, aiming to involve, educate and entertain a variety of people in their own heritage by using a number of art forms.

The creatives will develop an immersive performance, working alongside Heritage Lincolnshire to ensure the work is historically informed, recognising there is a lack of evidence and accurate research involved in this heritage. There is limited museum access in the area, especially in North East Lincolnshire. There is a risk to the loss of heritage, or misinterpretation, in an area of the country that wasn’t particularly ‘important’ at the time, being agricultural peaceful communities.
